Internship for Civil Engineering/Geology

We are seeking a bright, enthusiastic team player to provide technical assistance, drafting, field and administrative support to our team of Engineers and Geologists.

Romig Engineers, Inc. is an established geotechnical engineering firm located in San Carlos, California. We work closely with architects, engineers, property owners, and developers to provide geotechnical investigations and solutions for commercial and residential developments in the San Francisco Bay Area.

General Duties

  • General Duties Include:

  • Drafting, including preparing site plans, boring logs, and report figures using Microsoft Excel

  • Locate specified sites on street, topographic, and geologic maps (available in our office)

  • Research and prepare proposal data for engineering staff

  • Update database with contact and project related information

  • Assist project managers with office work and potentially laboratory and field work

  • Assist other staff with various administrative tasks including but not limited to copying and binding letters or reports, filing, billing, mail preparation, answering phones, and miscellaneous facilities duties as needed

Job Requirements:

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word

  • Clean DMV record with current driver license (successful candidate must present a DMV record upon request)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow through

  • Strong job commitment and initiative

Candidate Preferences:

  • Some technical/engineering experience (knowledge of the Unified Soil Classification System is a plus)

  • Associate degree or at least 2 years of college education

  • Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel and Google Earth

Details:

  • This is a part-time position, starting at about 20 to 40 hours per week, depending on workload and client’s need. Position could transition to full time.
